This is the last part of my experience of setting up a webinar from scratch. (Here is Part 1, and Part 2).
And finally - what did I learn?
It was a huge learning curve for me and I must admit I was exhausted afterwards, but the experience has had two benefits already. Firstly, our usage figures for the database increased markedly that month, and secondly a new-found confidence with the technology has meant that I've held similar meetings on-the-fly with team colleagues in France and the US, and with our users.
A session with a user in Denver was particularly beneficial for him, and a great advert for the value of our team of information specialists. He'd missed the scheduled demo but was keen to find out more, as he'd been tasked with some research into an area covered by the database in question. We worked through his questions, setting up strategies, and I managed to demonstrate very forcefully (admittedly more by luck than judgement) the consequences of not including synonyms for the keywords he had initially thought of. This sort of teaching would have been impossible if I was not able to share a screen in real-time.
